The school bus leaves Sky at 8 a.m. and picks up the children along the way as far as Index. **** i~ A one-page telephone directory for the Upper Skykomish Valley is now on sale with donations helping the Boy's Club. The little directories are handier than leafing through the big phone' book, and the funds derived will be put to good use. A kindergarten meeting and registration will be held at the home of the kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Shela Taler, on August 23 at 1 p.m. All those with eligible little ones are urged to attend. Volunteer helpers are needed for both Tunnel Days and the Firemen's picnic tobe held AUg- ust 12 and 13. Those willing to lend a hand should contact Darrel Jose!yn or Don Flynn. The pilot of a big Jet helicopter, retained by the Forest Service for fire control, miraculously escaped injury when his 'copter turned over in the river. He was attempting to fill the big water bucket attached to the underside of thecraft in the river, but was swept downstreambythecur- rent. He managed to extricate himself and swim ashore. One of the Forest Service roads crewmen from North Bend was injured last week in a backhoe accident. He was taken to an Everett hospital with a neck injury. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Dvorak and son Tommy of Menomante Falls, Wisconsin have spent the last 10 days at the ALl Chrtstopherson and Harold Gibson homes. Joyce Dvorak is the grand- daughter of the Christophersons and came to help them celebrate their 66th wedding anniv- ersary. Berne and Mary Moormann of Sunnyvale, California were weekend visitors at the home of Art and Mabel Bean. Mrs. Moorman is Mabel's sister. The Public Health nurse will be available for consultation to any age group at the schoolhouse ~ on August 2 and August 16. This could include simplephysicM exams, diet planning, immunizations and help with family planning information, expectant mothers aria other health supervision needed by families. Screening for blood pressure, weight control, diabetts, and hemoglobins can also be done. If you have a rela~ed l~roblem, avail yourBelf of this health care. ~. ****. Nooks and crannies: Danny Boffeynarrowly escaped injury when he was struck on his bicycle by a car while crossing the highway in front of the Chalet. His new bike was badly damaged but Danny only received a scraped el- bow... Mrs. Koch is back in the Everett Gen- eral Hospital and would no doubt enjoy cards from her many friends . .. Young Scott Graham Just got out of the hospital. He was injured in a logging accident in the Sultan Basin...Three nights last week the area experienced thunder storms. Lightning started several small fires that are now under control... In news of the doggie world, Ted and Etleen Ktnscherf's little pooch had a tonsilectomy and 3 teach pulled... . . Four or five cabins at Scenic were broken into last week. The items taken indicate that it was the work ofyoungpecple... Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rich have moved into the Jim McGrath house. Bill cooks at the Cascadta . .. Mrs. Marie Alej0's grandson, Sammy Clark, has been here visiting...
