Boundaries Tabled Johnson Opens Office
Dr. Robert M. John-
son, Ophthalmologist,
announces the opening
of his Monroe office at
128 N. Blakely.
Johnson, a member of
the staff at Valley Gen-
eral Hospital, will
schedule appointments
at the Monroe office on
Tuesday mornings. He
also has a practice in
Kirkland.
The doctor handles
in patient care at Val-
ley General and is
available for emer-
gencies at the hospital
at all times.
This is the first time
a practice such as this
has been offered in the
valley the doctor said.
Johnson earned his
medical degree at
Baylor Medical School
and served two years
in the Air Force,
stationed at Travis Air
Base in California.
The doctor and his
wife, Catherine, and
(From Page 1)
Mrs. Biderbost indicated pleasure when a
spokeswoman for the P.T.C., Mrs. Nadine Kelln,
made an offer on behalf of that organization to
purchase the projector for the school.
Following more deliberation among the board
and audience, it was decided to table the topic
until the March 20 meeting, awaiting a firm reply
from the P.T.C.
In other items on the agendas Cot,am pointed
out to the board that the high school had regained
its standard accreditation according to the In-
termediate School Dtstrtct.
The accreditation had slipped to a temporary
standing last year due to lack of certain trained
personnel and required subjects.
Cottam read a letter from the special levy
committee which has been sent to Governor
Daniel Evans requesting him to stop in Monroe
during his tour of the state this month.
Director George made a motion, which passed,
following a Monroe Education Association re-
quest that the school year be extended to June 8
and 9 for pupils due to inolement weather
closures. Saturday, June 10, will be a teacher
work day.
The board approved a call for bids for cafeteria
• supplies and materials for the Maltby Elemen-
tary School to be submitted to the central office
no later than 2 p.m. April 13. They will be pre-
sented to the board at the April 17 meeting.

Upon arrival at the scene, Fire Chief Jim
Crawford said the upstairs bedroom was com-

No immediate estimate of damage was avail-
able, however the chief said an overheated
chimney was the cause.

for some two hours, completing their mop-up.
The room had been used for storage.
